Up To $10,000 in Grants Available for College Education at Mid-Continent University
A college education is more affordable than many people may think. Financial aid comes in many forms. Many Kentucky residents may qualify for Federal and one or more State Grants. A grant is not a loan and will not have to be repaid. State grant monies are running out earlier every year. It is important to apply for grants as soon as possible after January 1, 2011. Awards are made until funds are depleted. Grant funds are designed to assist students with the cost of tuition, books, and fees. With state and federal grants, many
students attend Mid-Continent University at little or no cost. Financial aid loans and often grants are available to make going back to college affordable. To be considered for Financial Aid, ALL students must complete the 2011-2012 FAFSA. Completing the FAFSA does not require you to enroll in school.
Federal Grants (PELL) & State Grants (CAP and KTG) are available to those who qualify. Some students may not qualify for PELL or CAP, but qualify for KTG (high income limit). The State Grant - Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG) is only available for those students who attend private accredited non-profit Kentucky colleges like Mid-Continent University. Maximum grant amounts for the 2011-2012 academic years are KTG up to $2,964, PELL up to $5,710 & CAP up to $1,900, for a total of up to $10,574 for those who qualify.
The Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG) provides need-based grants to qualified Kentucky residents to attend private regionally accredited colleges. This grant is available for most MCU adult students, even those with an unusually high income. In addition to the KTG grant, the CAP state grant and the Pell federal grant are available to those who qualify. State grant funding is based on a first-come, first-serve basis…typically gone by March. It is important to apply soon and Mid-Continent University is willing to assist you. In addition, MCU ADVANTAGE works with employer education-reimbursement plans as well as military tuition assistance programs.
The Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG) Program provides need-based grants to qualified Kentucky residents to attend the Commonwealth's independent colleges. Eligible institutions must be accredited by a regional accrediting association as listed in Kentucky statute KRS 164.740(17) and not be comprised solely of religious instruction.
The program is designed to assist students with the higher tuition charges at the independent colleges. Students must be full-time undergraduates enrolled in an associate or baccalaureate degree program and have no past due financial obligations to KHEAA or to any Title IV program. Credit hours attempted by correspondence or internet courses are not acceptable for grant enrollment purposes, except for courses taken through the Kentucky Virtual Campus. This grant has an aggregate limit of 250% of an annual award for an associate's degree and 450% of an annual award for a bachelor's degree. This means that full-time students at a semester school will use all their eligibility for an associate's degree in 2 1/2 years. For the 2010-2011 academic year, KTG awards range from $200 to $2,964. To apply, students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can obtain up to three paper copies of the FAFSA by calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center toll free at 800.433.3243 or you can apply online.
Mid-Continent University ADVANTAGE has provided a path for thousands of adults to reach their life-long goal of a college degree. Currently there are over 1,800 adults enrolled in 29 different locations across Kentucky and southern Illinois, with additional students also enrolled in our online degrees. Why is this program reaching so many people? Adults in ADVANTAGE have a common regret: not earning their college degree at the traditional age. When a second chance comes along, many vow not to make the same mistake twice and finally “just do it.” With a one night a week schedule and affordable tuition, adults finally have a way to earn their college degree.
If one night a week doesn’t work for you, some of our graduates earn their degrees completely online. Online programs do not have a minimum age. If you would like more information about our online program call, visit our website at www.midcontinent.edu, or email Keegan at kimhoff@midcontinent.edu.
We also offer a master’s degree in Mayfield, Paducah, Bowling Green, Madisonville and Louisville in the same one night a week format. For more details on our graduate program, contact masters@midcontinent.edu.
